A Customized Glow Without the Sun

A sun-kissed glow can enhance your overall appearance, whether you are preparing for an event, heading on vacation, or simply want a little extra color. Professional spray tanning provides a convenient way to create a more bronzed appearance without relying on UV exposure to tan the skin.

At New You Aesthetics & Wellness, spray tanning is available exclusively through our Marshall Beauty Bar. Your service is personalized to help create an even, natural-looking finish that complements your skin and desired level of color.

What Is Spray Tanning?

Spray tanning is a sunless tanning service that applies a tanning solution to the surface of the skin to temporarily create a darker, more bronzed appearance. The color develops after application, allowing you to achieve the look of a tan without intentionally exposing your skin to ultraviolet light.
Unlike traditional tanning, a spray tan does not require time in the sun or a tanning bed. Because the result is temporary, the color gradually fades as the outermost layers of skin naturally shed.

How Does Spray Tanning Work?

During a spray tanning appointment, sunless tanning solution is applied evenly across the selected areas of the body. The active tanning ingredient interacts with amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin, gradually producing temporary color.
The final appearance continues to develop after your appointment, so following the recommended post-treatment instructions is important. Preparation, application, and aftercare can all influence how evenly your spray tan develops and how long the color lasts.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Spray Tanning?

Spray tanning can provide more consistent color across larger areas than attempting to tan individual areas separately. Your appointment can be customized based on the amount of coverage you want and the look you are trying to achieve.
Common areas include:
  • Face: Creates a more consistent sun-kissed appearance that complements the body.
  • Neck and Décolletage: Helps blend visible areas for more seamless-looking color.
  • Arms: Adds even-looking color from the shoulders through the hands.
  • Torso: Creates more uniform color across the chest, abdomen, back, and sides.
  • Legs: Provides bronzed color from the thighs through the lower legs.
  • Full Body: Offers comprehensive coverage for an overall sun-kissed appearance.

What Are the Benefits of Professional Spray Tanning?

Professional spray tanning allows your color to be applied in a controlled setting rather than depending on sun exposure or trying to achieve an even result with an at-home product. The service can also be planned around your desired level of color and upcoming events.
Potential benefits include:
  • Creates temporary sun-kissed color without intentional UV tanning
  • Provides more even coverage across larger areas
  • Can be customized to your desired level of color
  • Offers a convenient option before vacations and special events
  • Avoids the need for a tanning bed
  • Provides visible color without waiting for a natural tan to develop
  • Gradually fades as the skin naturally renews
  • Can become part of a regular Beauty Bar routine

Who Is a Candidate for Spray Tanning?

Spray tanning may be an option for adults who want temporary bronzed color without intentionally tanning in the sun or using a tanning bed. It can be especially convenient before weddings, photos, vacations, celebrations, or other occasions when you want a more polished glow.
Your natural skin tone, current skin condition, sensitivities, and desired depth of color should be considered when planning your service. If you have active irritation or another skin concern in the area you want treated, discuss it before your appointment so the team can determine whether spray tanning is appropriate.

What to Expect During a Spray Tan

Before your spray tan, the team will review your desired look and provide guidance for preparing your skin. Proper preparation helps the tanning solution apply more evenly and can contribute to a smoother-looking result.
During treatment, the tanning solution is applied across the selected areas with attention to consistent coverage and natural transitions. The color then develops over time, so your immediate appearance may not represent the final shade.

How Should You Prepare for a Spray Tan?

Preparing your skin before your appointment can make a meaningful difference in how evenly the color develops. You will receive specific instructions for your service, especially regarding when to exfoliate, shave, moisturize, or apply other products.
In general, the goal is to arrive with clean, properly prepared skin without products that could interfere with the tanning solution. Following the instructions provided by the Beauty Bar team will help create the best foundation for an even application.

What Is Aftercare Like After Spray Tanning?

There is no traditional recovery period after a spray tan, but the color needs time to develop. Water, sweating, tight clothing, skincare products, and other activities may affect the developing tan, so it is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided at your appointment.
Once the appropriate development period has passed, maintaining hydrated skin and avoiding unnecessary exfoliation may help the color fade more evenly. Your Beauty Bar professional can explain how to care for your tan based on the product and application used.

How Long Does a Spray Tan Last?

Spray tanning is temporary, and longevity varies based on your skin, preparation, aftercare, bathing habits, skincare routine, and natural skin-cell turnover. The color gradually fades rather than remaining permanently in the skin.
If you enjoy maintaining a consistent glow, future appointments can be planned around how your individual tan develops and fades. For a special event, scheduling can also be discussed ahead of time so your color has time to fully develop before the occasion.

Professional Spray Tan vs. At-Home Self-Tanner

Both professional spray tanning and self-tanning products can temporarily add color without UV tanning, but the application experience differs. Professional spray tanning provides controlled application and broader coverage, while at-home products require you to apply and blend the product yourself.
  Professional Spray Tan At-Home Self-Tanner
Application Professionally applied Self-applied
Coverage Designed for even, broad coverage Depends on application technique
Customization Planned around desired result Depends on selected product
Convenience Completed during an appointment Completed at home
Best For Events or a professionally applied glow At-home maintenance and convenience

Everyone is always friendly. Staff is great and answer any questions i might have. Little expensive but worth it to have everything taken care of at one place. With others you have to pay for labs and get them done somewhere else and no one to talk to about my concerns. They get me supplies if i need them and it’s pretty quick. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my trt therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spray Tanning

How long does a spray tan last?

Spray tan longevity varies depending on your skin, preparation, bathing habits, skincare routine, and aftercare. Because the color affects the outermost layer of the skin, it gradually fades as those skin cells naturally shed.

How long does it take for a spray tan to develop?

Spray tan color develops gradually after the solution is applied. The exact development time depends on the tanning solution used, so follow the instructions provided at your appointment before showering or judging your final color.

Should I shave before a spray tan?

Shaving may be recommended before your appointment rather than immediately afterward because exfoliating or shaving newly tanned skin can affect the color. Follow the preparation timeline provided by the Beauty Bar team for your specific appointment.

Should I exfoliate before a spray tan?

Preparing the skin through appropriate exfoliation can help create a smoother surface for application. Timing matters, however, so follow the preparation instructions you receive rather than heavily exfoliating immediately before your appointment.

Can I shower after a spray tan?

Yes, but you should wait for the recommended development period before your first shower. Showering too soon may interfere with how the tanning solution develops, so your Beauty Bar professional will tell you when to rinse based on the product used.

Does a spray tan protect you from the sun?

No. A spray tan creates temporary cosmetic color but should not be treated as sun protection. Continue following appropriate sun-protection practices when outdoors.
