CO2 Laser Resurfacing in Longview, TX

Woman with smooth skin after CO2 laser resurfacing

Resurface Damaged Skin and Support New Collagen

Years of sun exposure, acne scarring, fine lines, and changes in skin texture can become more noticeable as the skin ages. CO2 laser resurfacing in Longview, TX provides a more intensive approach to skin rejuvenation by using focused laser energy to remove damaged surface skin while stimulating collagen production beneath it.

At New You Aesthetics & Wellness, CO2 Laser Resurfacing is part of the practice’s Laser & Devices offerings and is approached according to the individual’s skin, concerns, and desired level of correction. The goal is not simply to perform the most aggressive treatment possible, but to choose an appropriate resurfacing approach with realistic expectations for recovery and results.

What Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing is a skin-renewal treatment that uses carbon dioxide laser energy to precisely remove damaged layers of skin. As the skin heals, new surface cells replace treated tissue while collagen production is stimulated within the deeper layers, helping improve both surface texture and overall skin quality.
CO2 lasers have long been used to address concerns such as wrinkles, photodamage, and scars. Depending on the technology and settings used, treatment can vary in depth and intensity, which is why an individualized evaluation is important before determining the right approach.

How Does CO2 Laser Resurfacing Work?

CO2 laser resurfacing directs concentrated light energy into targeted areas of skin. The energy precisely removes or creates controlled treatment zones within damaged tissue while generating a healing response in the underlying skin.
As the treated skin recovers, new skin cells form and collagen production increases. This combination of surface resurfacing and deeper collagen remodeling can gradually improve texture, firmness, wrinkles, scars, and uneven pigmentation. Fractional CO2 treatments create narrow treatment columns while leaving surrounding skin intact, which can influence the way the skin heals.

What Areas Can CO2 Laser Resurfacing Treat?

CO2 laser resurfacing is most often associated with facial rejuvenation, particularly areas where texture, lines, sun damage, or scarring have become more noticeable. Treatment areas should be chosen according to the patient’s skin and the specific laser protocol being used.
Common facial treatment areas may include:
  • Full Face: Addresses multiple concerns such as texture, lines, sun damage, and overall skin quality within one resurfacing plan.
  • Around the Eyes: Can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines and textural changes in appropriate patients.
  • Around the Mouth: May help soften visible lines and improve uneven texture surrounding the lips.
  • Cheeks: Commonly treated when acne scarring, sun damage, or rough texture is a concern.
  • Forehead: May be treated for appropriate wrinkles, texture changes, and visible signs of photodamage.

What Skin Concerns Can CO2 Laser Resurfacing Address?

CO2 laser resurfacing is typically considered when patients want more significant skin renewal than a routine facial or superficial treatment can provide. Cleveland Clinic identifies wrinkles, photodamage, and scars among the concerns commonly treated with CO2 resurfacing.
CO2 laser resurfacing may help improve the appearance of:
  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Resurfacing and collagen stimulation can soften visible signs of aging.
  • Acne Scars: CO2 laser treatment may improve certain textural scars by remodeling damaged skin.
  • Sun Damage: Removing damaged surface layers can improve the appearance of photodamaged skin.
  • Uneven Texture: Skin renewal can create a smoother, more refined-looking surface.
  • Uneven Pigmentation: Appropriate resurfacing may improve areas of uneven skin coloring.
  • Rough or Weathered Skin: Removing damaged outer layers can support a fresher-looking complexion.
  • Loss of Firmness: Collagen remodeling may contribute to improved skin firmness over time.

What Are the Benefits of CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing addresses both visible surface damage and deeper structural changes within the skin. Because it stimulates collagen while resurfacing the outer layers, the treatment can be useful for patients seeking broader improvement in overall skin quality.
Potential benefits include:
  • Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Helps smooth uneven skin texture
  • Can improve certain acne scars
  • Addresses visible sun damage
  • Supports more even-looking pigmentation
  • Stimulates new collagen production
  • Can improve overall skin firmness and quality
  • Provides a more intensive resurfacing option than many superficial treatments

Who Is a Candidate for CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing may be appropriate for adults concerned with wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, or significant texture changes who understand that resurfacing involves a healing period. Skin tone, medical history, medications, active skin conditions, history of abnormal scarring, sun exposure, and the depth of treatment all need to be considered beforehand.
Laser resurfacing is not equally appropriate for every skin type or condition. Cleveland Clinic notes that pigmentation changes can occur after CO2 treatment and that some patients have a higher risk of hyperpigmentation, which makes careful treatment selection particularly important.

What to Expect During CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Your treatment begins with an evaluation of your skin, concerns, treatment history, and goals. The skin is prepared before laser energy is delivered across the targeted areas at settings selected according to the treatment plan.
CO2 resurfacing can vary considerably in intensity, so comfort measures and treatment time depend on the extent and depth of resurfacing being performed. The laser creates controlled treatment zones that initiate the skin’s repair process, and the visible recovery continues after you leave the practice.

What Is Recovery Like After CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing involves more recovery than non-ablative light-based treatments or routine facials because the skin is actively healing after resurfacing. Redness, swelling, sensitivity, peeling, crusting, or a raw appearance may occur during the early recovery period depending on treatment intensity.
Recovery time varies with the depth of treatment. Cleveland Clinic notes that healing after traditional CO2 resurfacing can take approximately 10 to 21 days depending on the condition treated and laser settings, while fractional CO2 resurfacing may involve a shorter recovery period in some cases. Redness can persist longer even after the skin surface has healed.

When Will You See Results From CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

Initial improvement becomes more apparent as the treated skin heals and fresh surface skin emerges. Texture and tone may look different after the recovery period, but collagen remodeling continues beneath the surface for longer.
Because collagen production is gradual, improvements in firmness, wrinkles, and scar texture can continue developing after the initial healing phase. The degree and timeline of change depend on the intensity of treatment, concern being addressed, and individual healing response.

How Long Do CO2 Laser Resurfacing Results Last?

CO2 laser resurfacing can produce long-lasting improvements in treated skin because damaged tissue is replaced and new collagen is formed during the healing process. However, treatment cannot stop future sun exposure, natural aging, or new pigmentation changes from affecting the complexion.
Consistent sun protection and an appropriate skin care routine can help preserve the appearance of results. Future treatments may be considered depending on how the skin changes over time and the level of correction originally achieved.

CO2 Laser Resurfacing vs. Microneedling

Both CO2 laser resurfacing and Microneedling stimulate the skin’s repair response, but they differ significantly in intensity and how they treat the skin. Microneedling creates mechanical microchannels to encourage collagen remodeling, while CO2 resurfacing uses laser energy to remove or create controlled zones within damaged skin.
Microneedling may be appropriate for patients seeking gradual improvement with a generally lighter recovery period, while CO2 laser resurfacing may be considered for more significant texture, scarring, sun damage, or visible signs of aging. The better choice depends on your skin, desired level of correction, and willingness to accommodate recovery time.

Everyone is always friendly. Staff is great and answer any questions i might have. Little expensive but worth it to have everything taken care of at one place. With others you have to pay for labs and get them done somewhere else and no one to talk to about my concerns. They get me supplies if i need them and it’s pretty quick. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my trt therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions About CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Does CO2 laser resurfacing really work?

CO2 laser resurfacing is an established treatment used to improve wrinkles, scars, photodamage, and other appropriate skin concerns by removing damaged skin and stimulating new collagen. The degree of improvement depends on the concern being treated, treatment depth, skin characteristics, and individual healing response.

How much downtime is there after CO2 laser resurfacing?

Downtime depends heavily on the type and intensity of CO2 treatment performed. Traditional resurfacing may require roughly 10 to 21 days for the treated skin to heal, while some fractional approaches may involve shorter surface recovery. Redness can persist beyond the initial healing period.

What does CO2 laser resurfacing treat?

CO2 resurfacing is commonly used for concerns such as wrinkles, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and scars, including certain acne scars. It can also improve overall skin texture and stimulate collagen formation as the treated skin heals.

How many CO2 laser treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on the depth of resurfacing, the concern being treated, and the amount of improvement desired. Some patients may achieve meaningful improvement from a more intensive treatment, while others may follow a plan involving different treatment depths or additional sessions.

What looks better, CO2 laser resurfacing or microneedling?

Neither treatment universally produces a better result. CO2 laser resurfacing generally provides more intensive resurfacing for concerns such as significant sun damage, wrinkles, or scarring, while microneedling offers collagen stimulation without removing the skin’s outer layers in the same way. Your skin, goals, and preferred recovery period help determine which option makes more sense.
